Eastbourne United manager Simon Rowland is refusing to underestimate Ringmer as they prepare to host their neighbours in Sussex Division One tomorrow (Saturday).
Ringmer have struggled this season and are currently fourth from bottom, without a win to show from their last seven games in all competitions.
But Rowland knows full well that his side will have to be at their best after a stop-start season themselves.
“I never underestimate anybody,” he said.
“We’ve lost to some pretty average teams this season. Teams have been coming to our ground, that I don’t rate as great sides , and picking up points.
“If we’re on it then no one in the league can handle us but if we’re not we know what can happen.”
Rowland expressed some concerns as to the commitment of his players before last weekend’s victory over Lancing.
At Arundel the week before, United were only able to name one substitute but his stern words seem to have done the trick and they were close to full strength against Lancing.
He revealed that he expects to be strong again on Saturday, although there is some concern over the fitness of Jason Taylor because of a hamstring injury.
“I reiterated my concerns to the players before the Lancing game and was able to name six subs,” Rowland added.
“I told them I’ll get rid of half the squad if they’re not committed and the response has been good.
“We were good on Saturday but their actions over the next few weeks will be the answer to how committed the players are.”
Kick off is 3pm at the Oval.
