Missed chances mean a Monday nightmare

MISSED chances proved costly for Town as they returned from the Waterside Stadium on Monday night empty-handed despite dominating the game.

Casuals started brightly with veteran Mark Nicholls forcing a fine save from Kieran Thorp.

Minutes later Sam Crabb played in Dean Brooks who shot wide.

Town’s plans were disrupted as Matt Ferinando left the field with an ankle injury and was replaced by Hassan Janner.

Sam Crabb had the beating of left back Liam Hind but Brooks and Goldsmith failed to test James Warrington in the Casuals goal by shooting wide. Mark Nicholls shot over after Adam Davison fouled Alex Brown on the edge of the area.

Town started the second half brightly and good work by Korona played in Sam Crabb who shot wide. Janner then ran the length of the pitch before seeing his shot blocked by Warrington.

Dean Brooks did have the ball in the back of the net but referee Tony Power ruled that he had fouled Warrington as they jumped for the ball.

Medi Korona beat right back Joe Kelly but was forced wide by keeper Warrington. He managed to cross the ball before being clattered by Warrington again but referee Power ruled against a penalty as Luke Evans cleared for a corner.

At the other end Kofi Lockhart-Adams slammed the ball past Thorp from the edge of the area for the only goal of the game in the 71st minute.

Town boss Danny Bloor immediately replaced Brad Manton for Tim Rivers and Greg Manton was also pushed forward. Again Town had more chances as Sam Crabb and Tim Rivers shot over.

With five minutes remaining Town pushed Steve Elliott forward leaving just Adam Davidson and Owen Kessack at the back but they failed to test Warrington as Casuals held on to take the points.
