Match preview: Watford vs Brighton

Gus Poyet heads to Vicarage Road hoping to get one over his old Chelsea mate Gianfranco Zola and in doing so propel his Brighton team into the automatic promotion slots.

The Albion are looking for a fourth consecutive win this evening, which would be the first time the Seagulls had taken maximum points in four games in a row since March last year.

And Poyet has no fresh injury concerns to worry about, with Craig Mackail-Smith having recovered from a tight thigh he suffered in the closing stages of the Albion’s 3v0 humbling of Sheffield Wednesday.

Vicente and Andrew Crofts are still missing, but with Dean Hammond impressing on his return to the club, Poyet will looking for a similar level of possession and control to that enjoyed by his team on Friday night.

The home side, who sit near the bottom of the Championship, will be without midfielders John Eustace, Geoffrey Mujangi Bia and Prince Bauben but could welcome back striker Alex Geijo.

Brighton have not won a league game at Watford for 20 years, but did come out on top in a recent FA Cup match-up. Brighton head into the game on a run of free-scoring displays but Watford have let in just one goal at home this season.
