Widdrington: the club is still evolving

Eastbourne Borough manager Tommy Widdrington claims his team “is still evolving” after their draw against Hayes and Yeading saw them go clear of relegation from the Blue Square South division.

After a weekend when the club confirmed takeover talks with Kuwaiti European Holding Company (KEH) broke down, the Borough boss took the opportunity to look ahead to the future of the club.

Widdrington said, “The club is still evolving over time and my team are really looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Eastbourne Borough have two games remaining, a trip to Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday night followed by an end of season clash at home against Staines Town. The Sports confirmed their Blue Square South status for next season in a 1-1 draw on Saturday after needing to better Hornchurch’s result, who lost 3-1 to Sutton United.

Widdrington will be looking for solid performances in the final two matches and may experiment with some fringe players. The season finale provides a good chance to produce a strong end to the season against two sides below Borough in the league.
