Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington revealed the formula behind his side’s success so far is hard work, belief and trust.
The Sports came from one goal down to register victory over Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday night and while that served to intensify the positivity around Priory Lane at the moment, he doesn’t want to get too carried away at such an early stage.
He said, “Football is all about confidence and I think the players are believing what I’m telling them about themselves.
“They trust each other, they trust in me and they trust in the methods that we’ve got. They’ve all bought into it.
“Hard work and determination are things we take for granted but even at 1-0 down, we were getting those ingredients.
“At half time I was probably like Arsene Wenger and at the end of the game, I was Jose Mourinho because we won, but I’m not going to get carried away like that.
”We just crack on and try to eradicate what we didn’t like, like giving away a silly free kick and then a goal ultimately.
“That made it hard for us but the lads listened and believed what we told them at half time and so they got their just desserts.
“I’m absolutely delighted, and Simon Johnson deserved his goal ‘cause he covered almost every blade of grass on the pitch.”
