Eastbourne Borough produced a superb performance as they
triumphed 3-0 against highflying Basingstoke at Priory Lane.
Skipper Ian Simpemba was brilliant for Borough as he scored one, set-up the first goal for Darren Lok and never put a foot wrong at the back.
Second half substitute Richard Pacquette added the third and ensured Borough more than made up for last week’s Vanarama South League defeat at Basingstoke last Saturday.
Lok opened the scoring on 17 minutes as Simpemba flicked
on Ryan Worrall’s left wing cross.
Simpemba made it 2-0 on 27 minutes as he headed home Marvin Hamilton’s long throw from the left.
Borough ensured they made the most of the stiff wind at their backs in the first half.
The wind dropped somewhat in the second half but Basingstoke could find no way through the Borough rearguard.
Pacquette added a third on 83 minutes just two minutes
after replacing Lok.
The result moves Borough up to ninth in the table on 33 points from 25 matches, six points off the play-offs.
