Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington hopes Chris Shephard can supply the magic to help his side overcome a tricky cup test at Kings Lynn Town.
The Borough talisman recovered from injury to come on at half time during Borough’s clash with Dover on Saturday and, although the Sports’ lost 3-0, the introduction of the livewire winger made a big difference to the team’s display.
Widdrington said, “Chris provides that bit of sparkle, that bit of magic into our side.
“We were lacking energy and creativity on Saturday, so we brought Chris on to give some fresh impetus, which he did.
“Everybody’s aware of how good Chris is, including the opposition, which is why he keeps picking up niggling injuries.”
Borough face a long journey this weekend as they travel to Evo-Stik Division One South side Kings Lynn Town in the FA Trophy third round qualifying, a challenge of which Widdrington is very wary.
“We get a bit of respite from the league this weekend but it’s a long journey that we must prepare right for. Their lower-league position is a bit false and the current team are not at fault for that. We’ve had them watched and we won’t be taking them lightly at all.
“Realistically, unlike the FA Cup, this is a trophy we can win.”
