Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington believes the key to his team’s recent success is because they are exactly that – a team.
Borough saw off an Eastleigh side who are known as one of the division’s top spenders but Widdrington believes their win came from an attitude on the pitch rather than funds off of it.
He said, “I think the advantage we have over other teams is that we are a unit. We’re always working together and the lads all care about one another.
“There’s a fine divide between winning and losing but the boys in there are buzzing and they deserve to be.
“I thought we could have been a bit craftier today and we probably should’ve scored another one or two.
“They did put us under a bit of pressure but for all their possession, all they did was keep pumping balls down our throat.
“I’m over the moon with the result though. The performance today was everything we work on in training and the way we want to play the game.”
