Eastbourne Borough won a pulsating clash against top of the league Woking at Priory Lane today.
In front of a crowd of 1,054 Boro’ stormed into a two-goal lead thanks to a header from Alex Lacey and a very well-taken goal from Ben Watson. Watson’s strike made it three goals in three league games for the former Exeter hit-man.
Tommy Widdrington’s side dominated the first half but the visitors clawed one back on 54 minutes after Simon Johnson was adjudged to have handled in the box. Giuseppe Sole scored from the penalty spot.
Woking thought they had an equaliser deep in injury-time but their celebrations were cut short as the effort was ruled out for offside.
Woking’s Kevin Betsy was sent-off for his protestations.
Priory Lane fans also got their first glimpse of new signing Charles Ademeno. The former Crawley and Grimsby man replaced Watson on the hour.
Widdrington said, “Every one of the players deserved man of the match. We thoroughly deserved to come out on top.”
