Gary Hart looks set to miss Eastbourne Borough’s Sussex Senior Cup clash against his former club Brighton at Lancing tonight (Tuesday).
Hart was injured during Borough’s 3-1 home defeat against Basingstoke in the Skrill South on Saturday.
Hart didn’t enjoy the best of fortunes at the weekend. The 37-year-old had already been booked during the early exchanges and was forced off the pitch with a leg injury on 20 minutes .
Speaking before training on Monday morning Borough boss Tommy Widdrington said, “It’s unusual that Gary Hart would signal to come off the pitch so there is obviously a problem.
“I would be very surprised if he will be available for the Sussex Senior Cup.”
Borough have endured a frustrating spell of late.
They have lost their last three league matches and have plummeted from third in the Skrill South to 11th.
The Senior Cup will not only provide a chance to progress to the next round, it will offer a few players a chance to gain much-needed minutes on the pitch.
The likes of Chris Shephard and Matt Aldred had injury problem before the recent postponements.
However, many of the players on Saturday were not quite at the levels they have displayed this season.
The Borough boss added, “I think it’s fair to say all the players need more minutes under their belts and the Brighton game will allow us to do that.
“No matter what kind of team Brighton put out, we know that it will be a tough test for us.
“At this stage of the season normally you would be looking to rest a few players but that’s certainly not the case this season. “
