Cup success for Borough and United

Eastbourne Borough comfortably booked their place in the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 1-0 victory over Ryman Division One South side Horsham.

The hosts were totally dominant but only new signing Elliott Charles could make it count - drilling home the decisive goal in the 21st minute.

The Hornets rarely challenged the Sports’ rearguard and despite Borough finishing the match with ten men after David Knight was forced off with a hamstring injury after all three substitutions had already been used, they easily saw out the 90 minutes to progress to the next stage.

In the SCFA RUR Charilty Cup, Eastbourne United emphatically saw off their Division One rivals Lingfield at the Oval.

They went down to an early goal from Danny Oakins but a brace from Peter Cooper and strikes by Mark Goodwin and Liam Baitup ensured they marched into the next round.

Oakins grabbed a late goal for the visitors to see the final score settle at 4-2.
