A busy pre-season continued for Eastbourne Town boss, Danny Bloor, as he added local favourite Matt Crabb to the playing roster at the Saffrons.

The former Eastbourne Borough left winger has joined the ambitious Town set-up, despite much interest from other Sussex clubs.

Matt Crabb explained ‘’ I am very happy at signing for Eastbourne Town. I have always taken huge pride in playing for my home town clubs.

“It is something I have always chosen to do. I have been most fortunate in that regard and I now move to the Saffrons after having had such a wonderful career with Borough.

“I am delighted to be able to continue playing my football in front of my local community here at the Saffrons. I take great memories from my time at Priory Lane with me but now is the right time to move on’’

He continued, “I’m a local lad so this move is perfect for me and suits us all well.

“I’ve been impressed with what’s happening at Eastbourne Town and I’ve been kept well informed of their progress by my brother, Sam.

“I’m looking forward to linking up with him and Ben Austin, who has also made the short trip from red to blue.”

“I’m also keen to be working with Danny Bloor, his staff and, of course, my new team mates. I am really excited about my football again and looking forward to the next part of my career.

“I had lots of interest from other clubs but once I spoke with Danny, I knew this was the right club and the right move for me’’

Danny Bloor said, “To have Matt Crabb follow Ben Austin to the Saffrons speaks volumes for what we are trying to do here.

“Matt will be a great signing for us.

“Obviously, I am thrilled and excited at them joining us, they are both winners through and through and their knowledge and experience will only help us to improve again, maintaining a forward momentum that is so important at this level of football.

“I also hope the football fans in Eastbourne will be pleased that we have signed these local boys.

“We would very much like to see our support base strengthen again, following last season’s 20 per cent improvement in attendances.

“I hope the fans, like us, are looking forward to seeing Matt Crabb, Ben Austin and 6’ 5’’ ‘keeper, Sam Reed playing for Eastbourne Town. I know I am.’’
