Former Lewes manager Steve King (pictured) has been appointed as the new boss of Blue Square Premier side Macclesfield Town.

King, who was heavily linked with the management vacancy at Eastbourne Borough earlier this year, enjoyed a successful seven years at Lewes at the start of his career before returning in 2011 after stints with Northwich Victoria and Farnborough.

He left in January by ‘mutual consent’ after being suspended pending an internal investigation.

He now takes charge of Macclesfield, who were relegated from the Npower Football League Two last season.
