Eastbourne Borough have announced the appointment of former favourite Jay Lovett as the club’s new Academy Manager.

Lovett, who joined Borough in 2006, helped the team win promotion to the Conference Premier at the end of the 2007-08 season and amassed a total of 149 appearences, scoring seven goals during his time with the club.

With regards to the appointment, CIC Chairman Paul Maynard said, “Jay has Sussex football running through his veins.

“I am delighted he has agreed to be part of our future vision for the club.

“I am confident that his reputation will draw many talented young footballers to the academy, and those that do make it through the trials will have one of the best local coaches around to teach and mentor them as they start off in their football careers”.

Lovett is the Head Technical Skills Coach and Under 18s Coach at Crawley Town, while also managing the successful Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s team.

He is working towards his UEFA ‘A’ Licence and currently plays for Metropolitan Police in the Ryman Premier.

Maynard added, “We already have a good number booked in for the main trials in April and expect those numbers to increase over the coming weeks”.
