The Sports travel to National League side Eastleigh and Bloor said: “Eastleigh are a strong and experienced side, and that’s just what we need.

“We went to Sutton to pitch ourselves against quality opposition, and came through very well with a 1-1 draw.

“But results are secondary. For myself and my staff, it’s about nailing down the final few places in our squad. And for the players, it’s about building fitness, team shape and understanding.”

Although the core of his team is established, Bloor still has decisions to make from a clutch of possible signings.

“It’s a nice problem to have,” he said, “and we’ve actually enjoyed a superb summer of outstanding commitment from a large group of players - all with something to offer. I really commend their efforts.”

Bloor is poised to announce two new loan signings, both from a Championship club, but paperwork was not complete as the Herald went to press.
