Eastbourne Town began their FA Cup adventure for 2012-13 with a straight forward 2-0 victory against Chessington and Hook at the Saffrons.

Danny Bloor’s side took just two minutes to take the lead when wideman Ben Billings crossed for striker Danny Curd who made no mistake from close range.

Town seemed content with their one-goal advantage and the visitors lacked an attacking threat to trouble a solid looking home side.

Ethan Strevett, Town’s recent signing from Eastbourne Borough, came off the bench to replace Steve May and almost made an instant impression.

His effort in the 82nd minute was superbly saved as was Matt Geard’s follow-up shot.

Town soon claimed their second though as Geard was on hand to seal victory in the 85th minute when he arrowed home his shot after a goal mouth scramble.

Town boss Bloor said, “It was a good effort from the lads. Chessington showed good spirit but I’m pleased to progress to the next round and I’m pleased with the clean sheet.”

Town will face Littlehampton in the next round who beat Burgess Hill 3-0.

TOWN: Reed, Lansdale, Sutton, Austin, Fogden, Elliot, Crabb, May (Strevett), Curd (Geard), Billings, (Howell) O’Callaghan.
