Duffy was injured late in Brighton's 3-0 Championship defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Albion manager Chris Hughton revealed the extent of his injury at this morning's press conference.

Hughton said: "He's fractured his fifth metatarsal and will have an operation probably tomorrow.

"It means we have to adjust but it's part and parcel of what happens at a football club. You have to work around situations and that's why you have the squad. Shane wouldn't be the only one that would have been missed through a injury at some stage of the season, so these are the things you have to adjust to.

"As regards to time, we're probably looking at a minimum of six weeks.

"It's a big loss, particularly at this stage of the season but more for him. He's had a wonderful season so far, he's forged a very good relationship with Lewis Dunk. For him, it's a big blow and for us as well but as I said that's the reason we have the squad we have.

"We've missed Lewis Dunk for some games this season, not many, and you work around it."

Chuba Akpom will be assessed in training ahead of tomorrow's trip to Rotherham, after missing Saturday's game at Nottingham Forest, and the game comes too soon for Sebastien Pocognoli, who has a slight groin injury.
