Eastbourne United have bolstered their promotion chasing squad with the signing of utility player Adam Davidson from Eastbourne Town.
Davidson, who just returned from a long term knee injury, will be available for selection for Saturday’s County League Two clash with Mid hurst and Easebourne at the Oval.
United boss Paul Daubeney hopes for a vast improvement after they scraped a 3-2 win at rock-bottom Saltdean United last weekend.
“We weren’t at the races on Saturday, particularly in the first-half. It was a lucky win and we can’t afford too many repeat performances,” he said.
Liam Baitup notched another two goals against the Tigers to increase his tally to 23 league goals this season but Daubeney has warned his team not to rely on the striker to take them up.
“Obviously Liam’s goals have been very important for us but he needs to continue to work hard for the team. We have to win as many games as we can no matter who the goalscorers are. We’re moving into a vital period of the season now and we need to put together a winning run and cut out the inconsistency.
Saturday will be the first league game between the two sides this season with United coming out 6-1 winners when they met in the County Senior Cup in October.
“Midhurst are a very good side and they have won their last five games so we need to be at our best to take anything from the game. We need to focus on ourselves, improve our tempo and most importantly keep winning.”
Daubeney has no injury worries.
