Eastbourne’s Kellie Larkin admitted she was ‘blown away’ after she signed for Chelsea Ladies Football Club.
The England under-19 footballer, who attends Bede’s School, will now join the Chelsea Elite Development Programme.
Kellie’s trial for Chelsea took place last week and she received the news she wanted over the phone the day after.
“My mum answered the phone and I was blown away.
“I didn’t expect it at all. I’m a massive Chelsea fan - my whole family is - so it’s a dream come true.”
Having played for England at both under-17 and under-19 level, Kellie graduated from the Brighton and Hove Albion Centre of Excellence earlier this year after seven years.
She progressed from the Seagulls under-17s during the 2013-14 season to be part of the victorious FA Women’s Premier League side, facing off against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea Ladies.
Kellie added, “I have loved playing against the very best footballers in the country.
“It really forced me to up my game. That I will now be training alongside England Ladies players like Eniola Aluko and Katie Chapman is absolutely unreal.”
Bede’s Head of Football Dave Caryer said “Everyone at Bede’s is extremely proud of her. She will now have the opportunity to train three times a week at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, as well as the opportunity to train with the Ladies 1st team which contains a host of international players.”
