A quality goal from striker Danny Curd saw Eastbourne Town record victory at lowly Tooting and Mitcham on Saturday.
Curd struck in the fifth minute of this Ryman League Division One South clash and the solitary goal was enough to claim three points.
Curd received the ball just outside the area, sidestepped two defenders and produced a composed finish.
Town defended well for the remainder of the match and restricted the hosts to very few efforts on goal.
Town very nearly extended their lead in the second half when Ben Billing’s, playing his last match for Town before a seven month trip to Australia, just failed to connect to a low cross whipped into the box from the right.
After the match a delighted Eastbourne Town boss Danny Bloor said, “It was always going to be a very hard game. Tooting are down the bottom but they played hard and made it difficult.
“We are delighted with the win but a bit disappointed we didn’t add to our goals. However, Danny Curd’s goal was worthy of winning any match.”
