Eastbourne Rowing Club had the opportunity to race on the country’s premier rowing venue when they travelled to the 2012 Olympic rowing course at Eton Dorney to compete in the Thames Valley Head.

The club fielded two fours, two pairs and a single scull in all three divisions. This event is used to gauge the progress of winter training and for crew selection.

The race is over the 2000 course with crews going off at 20-second intervals. All crews showed up well and the club will now fine tune its training programme for the coming season.

Club chairman Bob Noakes said, “This was a particularly good day for our youth development programme giving our younger members the opportunity to race at Eton Dorney.”
