Eastbourne’s battling batsmen will face a stern test of their credentials as they take on the fearsome bowling attack of Sussex Premier League leaders East Grinstead on Saturday.
Grinstead top the table following their comprehensive 142 run triumph at Brighton and Hove and for the third consecutive week they skittled out the opposition for less than 100 runs.
Their main strike bowlers of Carl Cachopa and Ian Sturmer have 72 victims to their names this campaign with Cachopa recording the best bowling figures in the Premier this season with an 8-29 during their 10-wicket win against Roffey earlier this month.
Grinstead are on 377 points with second placed Roffey 26 points behind on 351.
Eastbourne’s crucial home win against Cuckfield last Saturday dragged them away from the drop zone and are currently fourth from bottom in the league standings - four points ahead of Brighton and three behind Cuckfield.
Callum Jackson and Delray Rawlings are in fine fettle with the bat and will no doubt relish the challenge at Grinstead.
Skipper Luke Tomsett added, “Callum and Delray both batted well Saturday so they will be looking to take that form into the Grinstead game.
“The team is in great shape and we got the result we deserved last week after some fantastic performances in recent weeks.
“Results went with us Saturday which has lifted us out of the bottom two.”
Dom Shepheard and Matt Cooke, who took five wickets last week, are both unavailable.
