Mark Tomsett is refusing to place emphasis on their early season cup exit at the hands of weekend opponents Bexhill and is confident of chalking up their first Sussex Premier league win of the season on Saturday.
The Eastbourne captain, who oversaw a three wicket defeat in the National Cup ,thinks Bexhill are the ones who could feel the pressure at the Saffrons on, given their struggles since the season got underway.
Bexhill, who were promoted alongside Eastbourne last season, are struggling to adapt to life at this level and currently find themselves bottom of the league.
And while it’s early days, the skipper knows how difficult it can be when you start the season poorly.
“They’re probably looking at it as a must win,” he said
“If they lose they’re going to start getting cut adrift at the bottom so the pressure is all on them.
“I wouldn’t look too much into the cup game, it was very much an early season game and both sides were missing players.
“We’re full of confidence going into this game.”
Tomsett’s side are also still searching for their first win of the season after last week’s washout with East Grinstead.
They are currently just two places above Bexhill and in equal need of the points .
