Eastbourne cricketers recorded back to back victories over the Bank Holiday weekend as they followed Saturday’s three wicket win against Ifield with a five wicket triumph against Guernsey at the Saffrons.

The results lift Eastbourne to the top of Sussex Premier division two table after five matches of the season. Luke Tomsett’s side have 100 points from their three wins and two draws and are two points above second placed Ansty who have 98 points from four matches played.

On Saturday Ifield won the toss at Ifield Green and elected to bat. They were all out for 141 after 36 overs with David Twine (3-27) and Brad Evans (3-33) doing the damage.

Jacob Smith claimed 2-19 from four overs and there was a wicket each for Ben Twine and Delray Rawlins.

Eastbourne reached the target for the loss of seven wickets with Rawlins top scoring with 30. Martyn Garnet was the not out batsman on 25 with Ben Twine (7).

Eastbourne lost the toss once again on Sunday and Guernsey batted first and posted 162 all out from 39.4 overs. Rawlins bowled well for 4-28 and Smith ended with 3-42.

Ben Twine (2-29) and Brad Evans 1-38 took the remaining wickets.
