This event follows on from last week’s annual Sussex Cricket Foundation disability day, supported by Ortus Business Finance, which attracted well over young people and adults with a range of disabilities.

The ground-breaking event will take place at Arundel Castle Cricket Ground on Tuesday July, 5 with deaf children from many different schools and organisations being invited to take part.

Sussex launched their first ever county junior deaf team last year, running two boys teams (under-14’s and under-15’s) and a mixed age girls side.

The event will again be supported by Ortus Business Finance, while being in association with Hamilton Lodge School and College for deaf children in Brighton.

Sussex Cricket development officer, and County junior deaf manager Matt Parsons said: “Following the successful launch of our first ever county junior deaf teams last year, we’re delighted to bring a showcase day to Arundel Castle this summer.

“The event is the first of its kind in the south-east and one of only a few that have taken place across the country, so this really is a unique opportunity to encourage more deaf youngsters to get involved in cricket.”
