On Saturday the 13-year-old from Normans Bay grabbed five for 13 as Pevensey thirds overcame Hellingly by six wickets at Ninfield. His burst came in three overs as Hellingly were skittled out for 99.

Josh Dowsett had played a key role to finish with 2-4 from his five overs.

James Dallaway (48*) led the reply and was joined by Dowsett (11*) to seal victory.

Willingdon were the visitors to Pevensey Recreation Ground for a friendly on Sunday played in a spirit that reflected the current enthusiasm for the village game.

A strong Willingdon side surprisingly decided to field first and when dangerman Guy Moore went early, it looked like the hosts could be in trouble.

But Pevensey skipper Ian Swingler (50 ret) steadied the ship in partnership with young Moore (45).

Duncan Ray (5-26) was the pick of the bowlers ably supported by a good fielding performance.

Chasing 191 to win from their allotted 40 overs Willingdon were going well until that man Moore (4-20) was introduced and proceeded to rip out the top three in quick time.

Seasoned campaigner Craven (40) provided the only real resistance and 14-year-old Will Swingler (4-1) cleaned up the tail assisted by excellent catches from star man Moore and Matthew Wakefield.
