Caribbean calling for keeper Brown

Eastbourne’s wicket-keeper batsman Ben Brown has been selected by Sussex for the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament, which takes place in Antigua and Barbados in January. The Sharks will be up against seven teams from the West Indies in the tournament as well as Canada and the Netherlands, with Sussex opening their ‘Zone B’ campaign against the latter on January 10 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

They will then face Jamaica two days later and Combined Campuses and Colleges on January 14, before moving on to the Kensington Oval, Barbados to take on the islanders in an attempt to qualify for the semi-finals.

Sussex have several players unavailable due to international commitments but will be led by skipper Michael Yardy.

Sussex’s Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson said, “For the less experienced players to play alongside some more senior colleagues will not only be good for them but also allow us to see how well they are developing, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity.”

All matches will be broadcast live on ESPN. Full squad: WA Adkin, Amjad Khan, JE Anyon, WAT Beer, BC Brown, JS Gatting, Naveed Arif Gondal, AJ Hodd, CJ Liddle, MW Machan, CD Nash (vice-captain), KO Wernars, MH Yardy (captain)
