SUSSEX Wicket-keeper Ben Brown looked ahead to the new season and revealed: “We can’t wait to get started now.”

Sussex begin the new season on Sunday as they travel to Hampshire for their LV County Championship match at the Ageas Bowl.

The Sharks’ spent a while away in Abu Dhabi pre-season training but Brown can’t wait for the serious stuff to start now.

He said: “Everyone in the squad has done loads of preparation and we all just want to get started.

“The pre-season is quite long and it can take it out of you a little bit.

“We have been working towards the opening game of the season and now it is nearly here.”

Sussex will face the newly-promoted Hampshire in their opening match.

And Brown is unsure what to expect from their south coast rivals.

He added: “It will be really interesting to see Hampshire go in this one.

“We played Yorkshire a few seasons ago after they got promoted and were a little timid and shy.

“Fortunately on that particular day we managed to cash in and get the victory but we won’t be expecting an easy ride in this one.

“Hampshire have a really strong bowling attack and some fine young batsmen so we know it is going to be a difficult test.”
