Bede’s Prep School First Cricket XI claimed the Sussex Cup to become Sussex U13 Champions.

Head of Games Sharon Muxworthy has been extremely impressed with the progression and development throughout the academic year which has seen the schools’ cricket teams crowned U12 Sussex Champions, U13 Sussex Champions and JET National Cup Winners under the leadership of Petch Lenham and her team of staff.

The U13 Sussex Final was an excellent match between Steyning Grammar and Bede’s Prep School. Steyning Grammar batted first and scored 104 in 24 overs. Etherington from Steyning Grammar batted extremely well and led his team with conviction. The Bede’s bowlers were consistent with Sarro 2 - 26, Gordon 3 - 22, Griffiths 3 - 8, and A Lenham 1 - 1.

Following tea, Bede’s chased down the Steyning Grammar total in 21 overs, with the loss of 3 wickets. Captain Orr scored 10, S Lenham 53, Gordon 25 while Carter and Sarro hit the winning runs. Steyning Grammar’s Tyler bowled very well and the team as a whole showed great depth. Steyning Grammar bowled superbly, with a good line and length while the Bede’s batsmen played with patience and skill. The Bede’s boys thoroughly deserved to be Sussex Champions and finish with another success.
