Sussex wicket-keeper Ben Brown scored an impressive 144 not out to help his side to a 92-run victory at Hampshire on Wednesday.
The Sharks opened their 2015 County Championship Division One season with an away win against the Division Two champions in midweek- ex-Eastbourne player Brown hit an emphatic 144 runs from 244 bowls in the first innings to set the Sharks on their way.
Sussex posted a big total of 444, with Brown heavily aiding the cause, the Hove outfit then bowled out recently promoted Hampshire for 231. Brown failed to back up his big first innings with a duck, as Sussex were bowled out for a low score of 164.
England opener Michael Carberry got Hampshire’s run chase off to a good start with 79, but fell 92 runs short of Sussex’s total.
Guernsey will play their cricket in the Sussex Cricket League from 2016. Their request to join the league was given unanimous approval by the teams.
The Island will play in Division Two, below Premier Division outfit Eastbourne, with all their matches away from home and taking place on Sundays. The club will start off by playing 10 games a season.
