It is just seven weeks before the launch of the 15th annual broadcast of Eastbourne Youth Radio from studios at Sussex Downs College on Wednesday November 18.
Students aged five 19 and their teachers from 24 schools and colleges are just starting to prepare material for their one-hour ‘magazine’ programmes that will broadcast locally on 87.7fm and globally via www.eyr.org.uk.
Lead partner the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, will be supporting work to help promote Anti-Bullying Week. Further details may be found at www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk
Two schools will also be taking part in some additional enterprise start-up projects as part of EYR’s involvement as a ‘High Impact’ event during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Further details are available at www.gew.org.uk
Central to the success and sustainability of EYR are the forty six programme sponsors. They will each take an active role in their respective programme and will benefit from advertising whilst supporting this great initiative for young people. These include, Eastbourne Borough Council, Cobie Vet Care, Hotchkiss, University of Brighton, Brewers, Heringtons, EDEAL, Badger Inks, M-Tech Systems, The Arndale Centre, Let’s Do Business, W. Bruford, Caffyns, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and Parker Building Supplies.
The full list of EYR sponsors together with the individual programme details will be included in a special 8-page supplement being published with the Eastbourne Herald on Friday 13th November. Additional news from EYR and the schools will be published in the Herald or Gazette over the coming weeks.
Tim Sorensen from Eastbourne Education Business Partnership which co-ordinates the project, said, “As we start to get closer to the broadcast dates, the pace of activity really hots up as the students prepare their programmes. We are all looking forward to another fantastic three days of EYR.”
