Wedded bliss is good for town

I am delighted Eastbourne is leading the way as the most popular place for couples wishing to get married (Herald, September 23) following a rise of 28 per cent of marriages this summer compared to last.

Eastbourne is a lovely town which is always kept very clean and welcoming to all visitors whether from the UK or abroad.

Great credit I think goes to Eastbourne Borough Council, its staff and contractors working on achieving this great success.

The town has new and attractive venues for wedding ceremonies, including the Mayor’s Reception Room at the Town Hall, the Gold Room at the Winter Garden and the great historic Bandstand.

Eastbourne Borough Council must also be delighted the town is proving so popular with couples from all age groups choosing it as the place to become a married couple. There are great venues both inside and just outside the town which couples find attractive.

The town is quite right to take full advantage of these. The popularity of the town and its great venues for wedding ceremonies must be bringing in vast amounts of money to the local economy, which is very important in these very tough economic times.

I am sure all residents will benefit from this great success and hope the town’s popularity will continue with future couples choosing Eastbourne to hold their wedding ceremony.
