Town does not need supermarket

I COMPLETELY agree that Hailsham does not need another supermarket in the town

Mr.Watts (Hailsham Gazette, April 6) is absolutely right if this were to happen Hailsham would be a dead town.

Supermarkets do not attract people into the town to use local shops because supermarkets now sell everything including the goods you could buy from local shops.

I cannot understand Mr Adams of the chamber of commerce endorsing this. What do the other members think?

Nor can I understand Wealden District Council or Hailsham Town Council identifying a qualitative need for a new retail foodstore within the town.
