I would very much like to thank the staff at the Toby Restaurant for their care and attention to my wife when she became unwell after our lunch there.

They stayed with my wife making her comfortable whilst the medic examined her. An ambulance arrived in 20 minutes having been diverted from returning to its base at Lewes after treating a patient in Seaford.

Concern was expressed relating to the possible closure of Eastbourne DGH to severe emergency cases and the journey time to the Conquest Hospital, with the knock on effect of ambulance crews waiting there with the patient waiting to be attended to.

It could result in no emergency ambulances being available in this area. The care and attention she received from the doctor and nurses at the DGH was excellent, despite being under extreme pressure .
