FOR residents who think seagulls are a nuisance I have an ingenious ploy - for those who live within a mile or so of the Eastbourne tennis. It’s an inexpensive and humane way to have some respite from their presence.
If a ladies match is on television they should open their windows and very soon the offending birds will take flight.
On occasions when the shot is followed by an additional shrill shout of ‘OUT’ by the lines judge several flocks have been witnessed taking flight and not return until tranquillity returns.
Of course there will be those who disagree vehemently and think it a cruel and inhumane way to treat a bird. Perhaps they are right.
