Saddened at plight of town’s homeless

Having spent the last two weeks in Eastbourne, I was saddened to see so many rough sleepers around the town.

In particular, to see one of the seafront shelters on the walk to Holywell being used as a ‘permanent’ home for some individuals with personal possessions strategically arranged.

On a couple of occasions, washing was even being dried outside. For these structures to be allowed to be used in this way does nothing for the image of Eastbourne.

Surely Eastbourne Borough Council could provide some appropriate shelter for these unfortunate individuals, and allow the other facilities to be used for their intended purpose.
