Any suggestions, particularly those from the office of our Police and Crime Commissioner, that groups of people ‘swilling’ alcohol on town centre streets is a shared responsibility is complete and utter nonsense.
The recent outpourings of Katy Bourne are a disgrace and an insult to our intelligence. A ‘battalion’ of police officers is not needed to combat this unsavoury business.
Regular and robust action by a single police officer to confiscate alcoholic liquor would go a long way in deterring these people.
Some will scream in protest about their ‘rights,’ but local residents and visitors also have a right not to be witness to their disruptive and offensive behaviour, but for me I will continue to frequent Bexhill-on-Sea.
There even the seafront promenade cyclists pedal at a more careful and sedate pace!
