The Government are apparently looking at releasing green space for housing. It seems to me it is already happening!

Walking the Cuckoo Trail, the first time for about a year, I noticed just north of Horsebridge a massive great housing estate taking place, with work in progress. Presumably, like many other places in and around both Polegate and Hailsham (for example), ‘green space’ or farmland is gradually disappearing under concrete and clay.

Unless you get out and about, or sit on the top deck of a bus you probably won’t have noticed this, in my opinion, increasingly worrying urban sprawl.

I’m 76, at the end of WWII building homes was a priority, every green field and farming land was built on so it’s nothing new to what is happening now.

The town I was born in was once surrounded by hop fields and orchards, and had its own livestock market, only remembered now by street signs.

I wonder how long it will be before the open fields that border the A271 and the A22 near the Boship Roundabout become another housing estate and how long before Polegate becomes a suburb of Eastbourne?
