No shock in youth unemployment

SEEING that our esteemed MP is ‘baffled’ by the rise in youth unemployment in our town (Herald, November 18), perhaps I can point him in the direction of some explanations.

The Lib Dem-Tory government’s choice to slash public services to pay for the mistakes of the financial sector has led to the economy flat-lining and 1.02 million young people unemployed. Add to that cutting the Future Jobs Fund and Connexions careers advice, I suggest that Mr Lloyd ought not to be so surprised that almost a quarter of Eastbourne’s unemployed are 18-24 year olds.

I wonder how he expects extortionate tuition fees and the termination of EMA will affect our young people’s chances of finding work in the future?
