MP should reconsider support for gagging order

I am deeply concerned and disappointed to learn that our Eastbourne MP, Stephen Lloyd, has voted in support of the gagging law.

This law, if introduced, will have a serious impact on charities and individuals alike who will not be allowed to speak out regarding issues which concern them in the year prior to an election.

As I understand it, our MPs are elected by the people, to represent them not rule them. Surely in a democratic society everybody should have the right of free speech, 365 days a year, every year, whether we have an upcoming election or not. As a retired taxpayer and local resident, I would urge Mr Lloyd to reconsider his position and vote against this proposed law on October 8.
