Memories of a library battle

I READ Daphne Graham’s views about libraries and the need for them, with particular reference to the ‘lovely’ Langney library, and I was drawn back ten years to a Saturday morning in Victoria Drive when my Town Crying capabilities were full rein as my cries added to the placarded pleas of some 200 locals in their determination to keep our Old Town Library open, and it pleases me to see that it’s still going strong.

We must not forget the Foyles’ great gift of The Wish Tower and the necessity to see it preserved.

It was ever a pleasure of mine to visit that wonderful Bookshop some fifty years ago! Many a literary gem was to be found there.
