LETTER: Why’s this one so ‘English’?

I fear that the correspondence engendered by Edward Thomas regarding the restaurant in Meads Street has run its course; since I should not wish to be accused of verbal diarrhoea , I shall close my comments by posing two questions to Mr Thomas:

1. Why can Meads Street be considered so ‘quintessentially English’ (his words) compared with, say, Grove Road or South Street?

2. How often does Mr Thomas patronise the restaurant which he is so paranoid may fall into ‘foreign’ ownership?

USE IT OR LOSE IT, as I have already remarked.

Antony Howard
