LETTER: Volunteers at hospital heart

I read with interest the article asking for volunteers to join a task group at Eastbourne District General Hospital to help ensure the patient feedback is at the heart of the trust’s action plan.

The hospital is very fortunate to have around 300+ volunteers already doing a fantastic job within the building. The Friends Shop in the main foyer is run by a manager and assistant and a bevy of wonderful volunteers, together with others who go around the wards daily selling their wares to help raise money for the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital, which is then spent on enhancing the facilities for the patients, staff and visitors to the DGH.

The existing hospital volunteers are already at the heart of our hospital – if you’d like to join them by volunteering in one of the Friends Shops or on the trolley service please contact me on 01323 647188 for more information or to organise a taster session.
