LETTER: Transport hub backward step

The long-awaited new transport hub at Eastbourne Railway Station is, in my view, not as good as the previous facility!

As I understand it, the changes to the new paved area is for Hackney Carriages only, and not for mini cabs. Furthermore, the 20-minute short stay parking and disabled parking bays have been permanently removed, with nine spaces created on the opposite side of the station.

This is far less convenient, as is the fact that to access the car park drivers must use a new entrance on Commercial Road.

Surely this makes life more difficult for passengers, particularly the disabled.

Eastbourne residents and holidaymakers, alike, have been deterred by the poor parking facilities in part of the town, particularly near The Royal Hippodrome Theatre. Shops in Seaside Road have suffered badly and the area has become an eyesore where shops and businesses have closed due to potential customers being unable to park nearby.
