Regarding the geese seen flying over Eastbourne and the surrounding areas, these are in fact Canada Geese.
They do not migrate to Europe or Africa. They live in the wild in flocks in the English Midlands, East Anglia and elsewhere. They do not migrate as Canada Geese do in their native country, but fly to different waters in England in winter. They are often seen in V-shaped flocks (skeins) especially in the autumn.
