LETTER: The LPO is still delighting Eastbourne audiences

Via the courtesy of your columns may a local music-lover salute the return to the Congress Theatre of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for their 2014/15 winter season. The recent opening concert, conducted by brilliant conductor, Vladimir Jurowski, was quite simply spellbinding in all departments; and how splendid it was to be offered Dvorák’s little-known Noonday Witch alongside such perennial favourites as Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini and Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique. Come the interval, this attendee had been so impressed by the general quality of playing, not to mention the awesome adroitness of soloist Jean - Efflam Bavouzet at the piano, that he felt compelled to hurry round to the stage-door to express his praise and thanks to those responsible for his pleasure!

The L.P.O. has been delighting Congress audiences for nearly two decades now and the hope must be that they will continue to do so for many years to come. Encore!
