LETTER: Report is commissioned

Mr McCausland and all the residents of Lewes District (Herald letters) will be delighted to know that Lewes District Council has commissioned a report due out shortly to completely modernise the way we collect waste, recycling and how we deal with it.

We have already introduced food waste, which is now a government wish, we have also introduced a cardboard collection.

We will continue to collect more items and will be looking at plastics and green waste as well.

Actual waste per head in the district has gone down, we are now collecting more recycling since 2011 and will continue to increase our figures.

When the report is finished I am sure it will show a whole new approach to dealing with recycling and easier use for our residents and a good increase for our recycling figures.

Cllr Paul Franklin.

Cabinet Member for Recycling L.D.C.
