LETTER: Pothole repairs - think of the pavements

With the government allocating millions of pounds to councils for the repair of pot-holes and resurfacing roads, with cycleways being installed in many places, I suspect motorists and cyclists are jumping for joy! Alas the pedestrians, of which I am one, have to contend with pavements that are in some cases well over 60 years old and in a disgraceful state. Take for instance the large concrete slabs that when driven over, crack, break, and are often smashed to smithereens. If I was to do that with private property it would be called criminal damage, but not it seems on public walkways! Even tarmac isn’t level (not where I live) and this is summer, think what it’s like in winter!
