LETTER: Plain facts – and not speculation

We are constantly bombarded with individual forecasts of what may happen in the EU referendum. As we get nearer to the actual vote, these predictions get more and more scary and more and more stupid.

All we need to know are the facts and then we can make up our own minds. I have always understood that all public monies should be subject to audit each year to ensure that there is no misuse of funds.

Some 20 yeas ago the Readers’ Digest printed an article about the EU accounts saying that the auditors had refused to pass their accounts for the past seven years. Have their accounts been approved since then? This has gone on for more than 20 years, so when are they going to publish their audited accounts?

The original whistle-blower was, of course, sacked and blacklisted. Can it be right to pay money to such an organisation? Is the Chancellor guilty of aiding and abetting a bigger crime than that of Lehman’s Bank by funding this on-going fraud?

Naturally all bureaucrats will want to support their fellows in Westminster or Whitehall or Brussels forgetting that the object of bureaucracy is to make any useful action as difficult as possible. So please, no more speculation, just facts and silence from the bureaucrats.
