LETTER: Nothing but highest praise

On being advised of the date of my hernia operation at Eastbourne’s District General Hospital I was naturally apprehensive as to the kind of treatment I would receive. This was based on several stories that I had heard about uncaring staff there.

Well now, the answer to that claim is that it is complete and utter nonsense, and I have nothing but the highest praise for all members of the DGH staff that I had contact with. Right from checking in, until I was discharged, I was looked after in a most efficient and friendly manner, from both the superb nursing staff, right through to the surgical team that talked me through the operation as I was under a local anaesthetic.

I did actually write down the names of several staff members in order to single them out for praise. Sadly, that piece of paper disappeared during my exit. However, it matters not as everyone was simply top notch.

So, to any patient currently waiting to be treated there, I assure you not to worry as you will be cared for efficiently, humanely and in an extremely caring manner.
